The Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis Unit of the Trauma Service at the Clínica Vistahermosa is prepared to solve all the problems that affect us at an mature age; from injuries resulting from accidents to those resulting from aging and degenerative changes
The traumatologist members of this Unit have wide experience in the pathology of the elderly patients and, after a proper diagnosis based on advanced imaging techniques performed at Clinica Vistahermosa (densitometry, MRI, scanner, digital radiology and so on), are able to provide individualized treatment to each patient.
Patients receive the individualized treatment which is best for their problem. Initially, they will be treated with conservative means, proper medication, personalized rehabilitation and maintenance programs with our physiotherapists, injections of growth factors in the painful joints and so on. Those who need it will undergo surgery with the most advanced techniques: hip, knee, shoulder prosthesis with minimally invasive techniques, that will enable a fast recovery. After surgery we have a physiotherapist team who will begin the rehabilitation during the patient's stay the hospital, continuing with it after the discharge.
Osteoporosis will be treated with the newest and most efficient medicines, monitoring the patients with blood analysis and bone density measurements from time to time to keep an eye on the evolution and efficiency of the treatment. The osteoporotic fractures will be treated on the fractured zone by expert doctors who will as well watch the osteoporotic illness, in order to minimise any damages derived from it.
