"On the 10th, 11th and 12th of last March, the II International Conference for the Prevention of Sports Injuries was held in Murcia,
whose theme was:". Prevention of Tendinopathies in Sports ".
The Conference was organized by the Department of Sports Traumatology at UCAM and the Murcia Association of Sports Medicine
and was held in a landmark location, the “Jeronimos Monastery” in Murcia.
The Inaugural presentation: "Involvement of the thin plantar tendon in Achilles tendinopathy", was given by Professor
Christoph Spang of the Department of Integrative Medical Biology at the University of Umeå.
Among the national speakers were Dr. Enrique Martinez Gimenez, coordinator of the Foot and Ankle Unit -Vistahermosa,
within the eighth round table: “Prevention of Tendinopathies in the Ankle and Foot”, with the paper: "Relationship between
short Gastrocnemius and Tendinopathies in the Ankle and Foot. "
Speakers included top experts in sports injury (trauma, sports doctors, biologists, physiotherapists, etc.) who treat professional
athletes in all areas of sports (football, basketball, athletics, swimming, etc.).
The Conference was a success with the attendance of a diverse group of professionals dedicated to the prevention and treatment
of specific injuries of athletes and in order to get acquainted with the latest developments in the field.
