The Conference on Ankle Pathology Update was held last Friday at the Marriott AC Hotel Alicante, organized by the Trauma Unit Vistahermosa and sponsored by SEMCPT (Spanish Society of the Foot and Ankle Medicine and Surgery) and SOTOCAV (Society
of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the Valencian Community). The Conference was directed by Dr. Enrique Martinez (HGU Alicante - Traumatology Vistahermosa) and coordinated by Drs. Antonio Agulló (HGU Alicante), Jesus Más (Traumatology Vistahermosa), José Eduardo Salinas (Hosp. Vega Baja ) and Jordi Solana (Hosp. of Torrevieja).

The conference, presented by the Medical Director of the Clinic Vistahermosa, Dr. Giner, featured speakers and specialists on foot and ankle from most hospitals in the province as well as top experts from the Canary Islands, Madrid, Valencia and Murcia.

Discussed were the topics that dealt with the most common injuries to the joints and joint ligaments and the most appropriate solutions for each case. Also discussed were the problems of osteoarthritis of the ankle, surgical solutions for each case and the increasingly promising experience of the various types of ankle prosthesis.

”The event also served as a forum for updating all surgeons of the foot on both, from an entire ankle pathology caused by sports such as ligament problems, to the degenerative such as ankle osteoarthritis”, said Dr. Más, Co-Director of the Trauma Unit Vistahermosa.
