Alicante has now access to a new medical space primarily oriented to sports: the new Traumavist-Montemar Sports Medicine Unit, located on the premises of the Montemar Athletic Club. The physician in charge of the unit, Dr. Cesar Cobian (former head of the medical services of Deportivo de la Coruña Football Club and the Hercules Alicante Football Club) and the Montemar Club Vice President, Vicente Sala, inaugurated today the new facilities aimed at rendering sports safer.
"The importance of the unit lies in the preventive medical preparation for the practice of any kind of sports," said Dr. Cobian, head of the unit .
Traumavist-Montemar assistance is targeted to children, young people and adults practicing sports both at a recreational level and at a competition level in order to assess and improve their health and physical condition, avoid risks or damage due to a lack or excess of physical exercise and advise on sport, fitness and the most appropriate physical condition.
Traumavist-Montemar has the most modern equipment for carrying out sports medical check-ups, both basic and complex as well as sports-medical stress tests, in order to create awareness among people wishing to start practising a sport or those wishing to
perfect their favourite sport, to the need of carrying out preventive sports check-ups in order to avoid any problems before they happen or to manage them so as to minimise any potential problems or discomfort to the athlete.
The vice president of Club Atlético Montemar, Vicente Sala, valued on his part the fact that the unit "provides the club with a medical team specialized in sports medicine according to the values of the club and in order to render the practice of sports more
responsible and secure".
In addition to the preventive aspect and guidance towards sports efficiency, Traumavist-Montemar shall enable, through the team work of orthopaedic surgeons, sports physicians and physiotherapists, the quickest recovery time for injured athletes.
