Chondral injuries are related to femoroacetabular impingement and hip displasia. These lesions ocurr initially on tjhe acetabular side. Lesions of the joint cartilage at the chondrolabral level are considered part of early coxofemoral joint degeneration. If the articular cartilage lesions are still focal, we can perform surgical treatments to preserve the hip joint.
Surgical treatment is performed by hip arthroscopic. Bone marrow stimulation techniques with natural collagen matrix as ChondroGide® or Cartifill®, or bioscaffold technology for cartilage regeneration as BST-Cargel®, with the addition of platelet growth factors (PRPs) or stem cells. We can stabilize the cho ndral lesion by creating a fibrocartilaginous or cartilaginous tissue that will seal the lesion and stop the degenerative process.
In the chondral lesion is extensive, only local infiltration of platelet growth factors (PRP), stem cells, hyaluronic acid or collagen is indicated. The aim is to control the symptoms and delay as far as possible the surgery, which in these cases would be the implantation of a total hip prosthesis.
