Labrum injuries are nowadays one of the main causes of hip pain in young patients, especially in athletes. The main causes of labrum injuries are femoroacetabular impigement and hip dysplasia. Patients are previously diagnosed of dynamic pubis osteopathy, or adductors injuries. The delay in diagnosis can lead to chondral injury, and hip osteoarthritis. The treatment of labrum injuries in Traumavist is performed by hip arthroscopy. This surgical procedure allows to access for labral takedown and refixation.
The sealing effect of the labrum on the femoral head is essential to maintain hip stability and protect the joint cartilage. Repair of the labrum has been associated with better short and medium term results than resection of the labral lesion.
