Metatarsalgia is due to overweight bearing in the vicinity of the lesser metatarsal heads. It appears as recurrent plantar calluses and pressure pain which restricts the walk. It is usually due to a wrong support caused by an excessive length of the metatarsals, foot loose, flat feet, pes cavus and bunions, among other causes.
Conservative treatment is the use of wider shoes with low heels and soft soles, as well as insoles for the better distribution of loads on the foot.
Given the failure of conservative treatment, surgical treatment will be performed, either via MIS (minimal incision) or open surgery, as the situation requires.
