The wrist joint is formed by the lower ends of the radius and the ulna and carpal bones. Fractures of the lower radius and ulna are the most frequent.
Falls in games or sports injuries are the most prevalent among young people. This occurs in older people by small impacts exacerbated by osteoporosis. Treatment depends largely on patient age:
- In young people. If displacement exists, surgery is needed to fasten it with help of osteosynthesis material.
- In older people: conservative treatment with plaster whenever possible.
