The bursa is a small sac containing fluid to buffer friction between the tendon and the elbow (olecranon). When the elbow is hit or hits its tip repeatedly on a hard surface (like the browser or on a desk) the bursa can become inflamed. Treatment can be:
- Conservative: rest, ice, more compression and inflammation or anti-inflammatory analgesic therapy.
- Aspiration: draining fluid from the bursa.
- Surgical removal of the bursa.
