A tendon is a band of fibrous tissue that begins at the head of the humerus, covers it and slides under the acromial arch, and into the supraspinatus muscle that leads to the top of the scapula.
Supraspinatus tendonitis is the inflammation of the supraspinatus/rotator cuff tendon and/or the contiguous peritendinous soft tissues. Treatment can be:
- Conservative:Resting the joint, taking anti-inflamatory medication, rehabilitation and even infiltration.
- Surgical:arthroscopic surgery is used to remove acromial spurs to release the supraspinatus tendon.
